A couple of reasons!

1. There's not many faces he makes in Dream Drop Distance. Really he makes... one face. That's not helpful for icons.

2. Captain America gave him a haircut so that people on the AU Riku's homeworld in Distant Skies wouldn't stab him on sight, because in that 'verse Zexion is still at large and a wanted man

3. Deal with it /shades

Daemon

Name: Sesheta

Sex: Female

Form: Nebelung cat; though Sesheta is more saturated in color (closer to Ienzo's hair color), sports a rather nasty scar across her chest over her heart, and is polydactyl. She also tends to shimmer faintly when Ienzo uses magic.

Additional notes: Given that Ienzo has already been forcibly separated from his daemon in a sense in canon by losing his heart, then re-united with her by regaining it, I'd like to say that Ienzo has the same distance limitation as Lyra, Will, and the Witches do in His Dark Materials (ie, much further than most humans), that the forced separation and rejoining of his heart works much like the separation by going to the land of the Dead, or to dead areas.
I'd like it also if Sesheta could use / share some of Ienzo's magic. Spells he cast that affect him (like Vanish) would affect both of them; it'd be neat if Seshata could also use all of his non-damaging spells on herself (Vanish, blurr, Disguise, etc), and that as Ienzo gains in power if she could gain more powerful illusion abilities (perhaps a bit like a Cheshire cat, the ability to just make parts of her body vanish, or appear to be in different places).

Why this form: I know, I know: cat. how boring! I did consider a number of more exotic animals, including a grey crowned crane, but the cat, particularly the nebelung, fit Ienzo the best.
Nebelung cats are said to be mysterious; they are often very reserved, though they will bond with a few close individuals. They are highly intelligent animals as well. More than that, though, Ienzo prefers not getting his hands dirty. While not lazy, per se, he uses his own talents to his advantage and avoids combat, letting others do the dirty work... much as cats have latched on to humans as a way to get food, shelter, and protection. A cat is still playful at times, and a cat can still hunt its own food, but cats rely on others for their protection in the end. They are also sly and the traditional companions of both witches and writers, which Ienzo is sort of both.
The name, Sesheta, is a reference to the Egyptian goddess of both writing and science, things Ienzo is also associated with. Sesheta, like many Eyptian goddesses, is ALSO associated with cats.
Finally, we have the slight connection to the cheshire cat, a cat who can turn invisible and speaks in riddles that hold some truth. In the same way, Ienzo will often speak cryptically with clever wordplay, and he is an illusionist... though Sesheta isn't much of a smiler.

How many hearts?

How many hearts does it take to build the world?

How many hearts does it take to understand the world?

"When we're finished, little brother," he says, ruffling your hair, "I won't just show you outside this castle. That's dull in itself, really..."

He takes you to his telescope and lifts you up onto the stool, lets you look through its lens.

"We'll see all those worlds. Countless worlds. But you have to help me. I can't get us out if I can't remember..."

You stand enraptured by those glittering lights. You've always longed to leave the castle, but you never thought about going further. You hear his words, though, your older brother, the only friend you've ever really had.

"Can you ask Father to build us a lab?"

You take a small breath. You step down from the stool, closing your eyes, remembering those thousand glittering lights. You say, softly, in that voice you currently reserve only for a few:

"Yes."

***

How many hearts?

You turn away at first, burying your face in Even's leg, hiding behind Aeleus, but eventually Dilan makes you watch. You're terrified but Xeh takes your hands and he strokes your hair and he tells you how brave and clever you are, how important you are, and how much this matters to him.

"Sacrifices have to be made, Ienzo," he says. "To get what you want, you have to give some things up."

"But you're killing them," you whimper.

"Noble sacrifices to a worthy cause. We'll make the whole world better for everyone else, I promise. I promise."

And if Xeh promises it must be true, you know this. You suspected him at first, but he grew on you, as he grew on everyone, with his smiles and his charm...

So you turn and you look at what happens. You watch. And then you help. And eventually it's you who holds the clipboards, who works the injectors, who watches, and you start to revel in their terror. Your body is a child's, but your mind is something else entirely. You begin to appreciate the artistry in pretending, in emulating. You reflect their mannerisms back at them, you act an adult in a child's body.

Inside, you're screaming.

***

You used to watch the two teenage boys try again and again to get in, and you wondered what it was they wanted. A part of you wanted to talk to them, but the red one was frightening and brash, and the blue one was cold and intimidating, and your voice was silence save for a few. Why did they want into the castle? To you, it was a prison, surrounded by water. But to them, the way they looked up at it, they must have thought it paradise itself.

You tried, one day. You snuck out the secret waterway through the gardens, and you were about to speak to them when Evan yanked you back by your shirt collar and dragged you off. You knew better than to struggle by then.

One day, you sit on the wall, kicking your legs and eating a bit of ice cream, and then Xeh comes up and stands behind you, watching too.

"They're interesting," he says. He's changed, over the past few weeks. His voice carries an edge of something... strange. You aren't sure if it's inspiration or madness. In any case...

"Do you think you can bring them to me? I want to talk to them."

You hesitate. "Will we..."

"No, no," he says. "No, their hearts are too interesting for something so simple. No, I think, perhaps, they might be useful as helpers."

You allow yourself the luxury of a little smile. Maybe you can be friends after all? Friends, real friends... not exactly your age, but closer than anyone else, even Xeh.

"I know about your secret passage," he says with a wink. "You can bring them in through there."

You nod, hopping off the wall. You'll see it done.

***

You practically skip. You're going to make real friends, outside the castle walls. You're going to make your brother happy. You're going to be useful, helpful. Important. You like being important, being in charge. You scamper down the steps. Xeh assures you that Even will be too busy to come after you, and that gives you an extra burst of speed.

The town is confusing and full of people, and for a little while you're lost. But then you remember: you snuck out that one day to the Moogle shop, where that one fellow sold ice cream, and you head back there. And sure enough, there they are: blue and red. You run up and pull at the blue one's sleeve.

"What?" he asks, flatly, a note of anger in his voice. You shrink back. Your voice (your troublesome voice) catches in your throat. You stammer.

"Jeez, Isa, don't be such a creep," says the red one. "Yo, hey."

Isa blinks, then softens a bit. He tilts his head at you, pondering.

"Are you the boy from the castle?" he asks. "What are you doing out here?"

You choke on your words. Part of you wants to run, but you have to do this, for Xeh. You shift your weight and wring your hands.

"Um," you manage. "S-so, you wanted to. Um. Get into the castle, right?"

The red one rolls his eyes. "Yeah, and? We've tried! The guards keep catching us and throwing us out!"

"But he got out," says Isa. "And so, there must be a way in."

You nod. "I know a um, way. A few, actually, er, the guards don't... really. Um. Check. The waterways?"

You breathe. There it is.

"Woah, really?" asks the red one. "For serious? And you'll show us?"

You nod excitedly. Isa looks as though he's about to say something, but then he sighs and shakes his head.

"Well, I'm Lea, and this is Isa, and we're friends now, so what's your name, you have to have a name, right?"

Friends. Friends. It was that simple. You didn't even have to speak properly.

"Ienzo."

"Cool!" He grins. "It's great to meet you, and man. Isa, this is it! We've got our way in!"

***

You lead them through the twisted hallways beneath the castle. Soon. Soon they'll be helping you too, and then after you work you'll be able to play together. To do... you don't know. What do normal kids do? Play..? or something? Whatever it is, you're sure it will be fun.

As you lead them, you find it easier to speak. Your words are for them too now, and you think, maybe they can be for everyone.

"So you never get to leave?"

You shake your head. "Even doesn't let me. Father -- Ansem -- says it's too dangerous. I think they're all fools."

Isa shrugs. "I believe their caution may be justified. The city's fairly safe, but anything can happen..."

You stop, turning to face them. "But I've never had any real friends at all, before you! I've never gotten to see a single thing outside this castle. Everyone tells me that I'm to learn everything, but how can I learn everything if I'm not allowed to see anything!"

Lea is actually quiet for once. "Man, I never thought about it that way," he says. "I mean, jeez, I think the town's pretty boring for one, but I guess if you're cooped up in the castle, it must seem pretty great..."

He grins. "But hey, after this? You can come play with us anytime you like. We'll make it a regular thing. We'll show you everything about the town!"

Isa just sighs. But then he nods. "I do agree that it's wrong to deprive you of anything outside these walls..."

You're almost breathless. You can't stop smiling.

"We just have to get all the way in. I promised my brother you'd get to meet him. He wanted to see you..."

They look at each other, surprised. "The prince? Xehanort? He wants to see us?"

They look back at you, and then Lea starts to grin. "This could be it, Isa! Our ticket to easy street! Everyone'll know our names now! Friends with the prince!"

Even Isa has to crack a smile at that. "Man, I'll never hear the end of it now, will I? Lord Lea, Friend of the Prince..."

Lea punches him in the arm. "And lord Isa! Jeez, like I'd leave you in the lurch..."

You tug at both of them. "Come on now, we can't keep him waiting!"

You race each other through the tunnels, laughing. You stop to play a little tag, and finally you come out into the main hall of the lab, and then you stop short in your tracks. All three of you stop short.

There's Even, laying on the ground, his eyes blank an lifeless; there's Dilan and Aeleus, and even that jerk Braig. And standing over them is your brother, with a...

"A... keyblade?" you ask. You take a step back. You're all frozen in fear. Lea and Isa look at you in confusion, but your expression betrays you. You didn't know this would happen.

You didn't know about any of this.

"Ienzo!" he says with a smile, and you still can't run, because for a moment you think, maybe it's alright. Maybe it'll all be okay. "You've done so very well..."

They don't run either. You stand, all three of you, arrested by it all. He walks forward and he ruffles your hair affectionately, but you still stand paralyzed. Afraid.

"You've brought us our first two from outside our group. And I'm sure they'll be perfect. Strong. True. Loyal. Once they've been... unburdened, of course."

He steps back and points that blade at your chest. You look down, uncomprehending.

"The heart. So useless, in a creature like you. It ties you down. Holds you back. Think of how much sharper your intellect would be, without all that troublesome light to blind you... let your light fade, my dear brother. Let your heart return to Darkness."

How many hearts?

And, how much pain?

You cannot even scream. The sound you make is more like a whimper because what you feel is your heart and soul being separated, rent from each other, and you feel yourself reaching out towards that fading light or maybe it's reaching back towards your own shadow and you cry out please

oh, please

don't go

Slowly, every emotion you have, even longing, even fear, fades to pain

And then this, too

fades

THIS IS A COMMAND LIST YEAH Also see the bottom for notes about shit

Attack Commands
Confusion Strike: Strike might confuse the enemy
Binding Strike: Strike might bind the enemy in place
Blinding Strike: Strike might blind the enemy
Magnet Spiral: Draw the enemy in close with magnetic force, then strike
Mirage Barrage: Make multiple attacks from multiple angles, only one of which is real.
Entrap: Strike an enemy to entrap them in your book for a short while

Magic Commands
incomplete list. If an entry has xx -- yy -- zz, the later notes are higher level/more powerful versions of the spell
Note further that Ienzo's magic is a little different, in that often these are illusions; this will be noted.

Blind: Trick the enemy into thinking they've been blinded -- Blackout Cause a cloud of darkness to descend on a large area
Confuse: Bombard an enemy with images, causing them to confuse friend and foe
Bind: Generate an image that causes an enemy to stay stuck in place
Poison: Trick an enemy into thinking they've been poisoned
Terror: Assault an enemy with terrifying images to send them fleeing in fear. -- Phantasm: Confront an enemy with an image of their worst fear, potentially knocking them out.
Silence: Cause an area to seem to be in utter silence
Sleep: Soothe an enemy with calming images, luring them into a deep sleep
Mini: Shrink an enemy down to tiny size

Fire -- Fira -- Firaga: Creates the feeling of searing flames
Thunder -- Thundara -- Thundaga: Creates the sensation of a bolt of lightning
Blizzard -- Blizarra -- Blizzaga: Creates the feeling of bitter cold
Aero -- Aerora -- Aeroga: Creates the image of swirling winds

Cure -- Cura -- Curaga: Heal some amount of damage
Esuna -- Negate a minor status effect

Clone: Create an image of yourself, that can act independently. This clone is solid, and can move and attack on its own, dealing half damage. It has half your hitpoints. | This clone can use half the Commands you have currently installed, with half damage -- Mirror Image: As Clone, but multiple images
Blur: Blur your outline, making you difficult to see or hit.
Vanish: Turn invisible. Attacking or using magic turns you visible. -- Mislead: Turn invisible, leaving illusory duplicates behind.
Prism Wave: Create a wave of scintillating colors that inflicts multiple status effects on the enemy, and deals Light damage.

Mimic: Replace this command with an ability of the targeted enemy. This lasts one minute, or until used.
Mime: Replace this command with an ability that one of your allies recently used (within a minute). This ability stays in your deck for one minute, or until used. *

* With Mimic, Mime, and Blue Magic, Ienzo also replicates the appearance of whatever weapon or tool a character was using at the time. For example, if Ienzo Mimed Sabriel's use of the bell Ranna, he would create a shadowy duplicate of the bell, seeming to fold it rapidly out of paper first.

MOVEMENT COMMANDS

Float: Ienzo hovers in midair after jumping. He can move slowly, but take no actions (taking action breaks the Float)
Teleport: Teleport a short distance

DEFENSE COMMANDS
Barrier: Generate a shimmering barrier that blocks attacks from all sides.
==> Confuse Barrier: Same as above, but confuses enemies that physically strike it.

REPRISAL COMMANDS
Blue Mirror: Respond to an enemy attack by using that same attack on the enemy (Ienzo or Seshata must be struck by the attack; this can't be used if Barrier is used)
==> Blue Magic: Permanently add an attack you've been struck by to your deck, provided you survive it. The attack must be eligible (ie, some form of secret technique, special attack, or magic)
====> Indigo Magic: As above, but take half damage, have 50% more resistance to status effects, and any permanent effects are rendered temporary (1 hour duration). This command, unlike the others, can only be used once per day.

Passive Abilities

Magic Haste (1/5): Decrease the recharge time on your Magic commands
Thunder Boost (1/3): Increase the power of Thunder spells
Blizzard Boost (1/3): Increase the power of Blizzard spells
Cure Boost (1/3): Increase the power of Cure spells
Mirage Boost (1/2): Increase the chance that a status effect will effect someone
Magic Boost (1/2): Slightly increase the power of all your magic abilities
Scan: Reveal minor information about an individual. Note: This ability is used exclusively by Seshata, and expresses as a sense of "smell." Seshata can get fairly accurate ideas of how good/evil a person is, and some vague impressions of their personality, all based on a somewhat metaphysical scent. She has to tell Ienzo what she knows.

Limit Command
Activates only at critical health

Mirage Arcana: Change the appearance of the battlefield; these structures, unlike your other illusions, have no solidity and cannot deal damage or create effects, however they look real, make sound, and can be anything you like. You generate multiple clones, as per Mirror Image, become Blurred, and gain the ability to cast a Mirage Meteor every six seconds; your Mirrors can appear to be the ones "casting". This ability lasts for one minute.

DAMAGE RESISTANCE / VULNERABILITY
A positive number indicates resistance. Negative numbers indicate vulnerability. Zero indicates no change from base damage.

Physical: -5%
Fire: 0%
Blizzard: 5%
Thunder: 5%
Water: 5%
Wind: 0%
Dark: 50%
Light: 5%

STATUS EFFECT RESISTANCES
Confusion: 100%
Blind: 50%
Silence: 50%
Poison: 0%
Bind: 50%
Zero Gravity: 0%
Terror: 100%

Bleh there's too many status effects in KH to list them all, but BASICALLY, Ienzo is HIGHLY resistant to effects that are mind-affecting or based in illusion. This extends to illusions cast by other characters in other spellcasting systems: he's more than likely to see right through them.

Out-Of Combat Abilities
These are spells/abilities implied to exist within the Kingdom Hearts universe, or just useful small things that I think would fit Ienzo and be neat. These can't be used in combat.

Cantrips: Minor useful bits of magic. Make a fire the size of a candleflame, change the flavor of a dish, gently cool a drink, cause a faint smell to waft through the air, briefly change the color of an item, make faint colored lights, stuff like that. Cantrips can never be used to cause damage or sufficiently distract someone, they're mostly just parlor tricks aided by magic.

Disguise Self: Ienzo takes on the appearance of someone he knows. He moves, speaks, and for all purposes appears to be them.

Shapeshift: If a world would be inhospitible to human life, take on a form more able to survive there. This is how Donald Duck is able to turn Sora into a merman or a lion. The form is NOT determined by the caster, but is rather the "most appropriate" form. This spell affects accompanying daemons as well. It doesn't grant any special abilities either, beyond "able to survive and sort of blend in." At moderator discretion, I may limit this spell to only work in the Kingdom Hearts universe

Alchemy: Brew potions, given the appropriate ingredients

Synthesis: Create minor magical items, given the appropriate ingredients

Nonmagical abilities of note

Ienzo is one of the foremost researchers into the true nature of hearts in his universe. He is a gifted scientist, and it's possible that his knowledge may have applications towards learning more about Dust.

Kingdom Hearts magic is primarily Vancian in style, especially in the later games. That is to say: magic is "packaged" in discrete spells or abilities. That said, there's some evidence that magic CAN be used in a more free manner, but pretty much only in the cutscenes. In any case, in Kingdom Hearts, magic and science are the exact same thing, with the study of magic displayed in most cases as a very focused, scientific art (see how what the Apprentices studied we would consider properly magic, also even Merlin from the disney film is a bit more of an alchemist/scientist than a straight mage, and also YenSid; finally, in most Final Fantasy games, magic works like this, and Hollow Bastion is sort of the catch-all Final Fantasy world)

Ienzo and his Nobody, Zexion, have somewhat, er... complicated abilities. Note that Somebodies do generally retain at least some abilities from their Nobody counterpart (Ie, Lea keeps his chakrams and his control over the element of Fire)/. Zexion can clearly use magic outside combat in unique ways, as evidenced by his ability to mimic Sora's abilities and form in Chain of Memories. Also in that game, he is capable of stealing Riku's cards to use Riku's attacks against him, and of cloning himself so he can attack multiple times. There's also some evidence that the visions of his friends that Riku sees on the islands are illusions cast by Zexion to torment Riku.

*deep breath* in his KHII FM+ battle, Zexion is capable of trapping people in another dimension within his Lexicon, creating multiple copies of his book, teleporting, and summoning meteors. In Kingdom Hearts: Days, Zexion has one of the highest spellcasting stats of anyone in the game (about equal to Vexen and Donald, IIRC). His Limit Break is called Meteor Mirage, and during it he summons illusiory meteors to bombard the enemy.

RIGHTO. With that in mind, here's some Commands Ienzo might be able to use, based on what we know of his abilities, done in the style of Birth By Sleep and Dream Drop Distance. It's possible that as the game progresses, Ienzo may learn different commands and abilities; if so, they'll be noted here. Greyed-out entries are things Ienzo doesn't know yet.

NOW: Installing and using commands! Ienzo can only have seven commands installed at any given time. It takes time and concentration to change out commands, so Ienzo cannot do this during battle. Each command also takes a few seconds (or split seconds, depending!) to recharge. He has to choose which spells he's going to be using in advance. Outside combat though, it doesn't take too long to switch things out if he needs them.

Seshata can use any magic command Ienzo knows, but she cannot use his Attack Commands or... pretty much anything else, really.

As a final note, friendly fire doesn't seem to be a Thing in Kingdom Hearts, even with area of effect spells. Maybe it's the Power of Friendship or something.

Greyed and struck-out commands are commands that Ienzo will not have access to; visible commands he'll have after his two-week recovery period.

ABOUT YOU

Name: TealDeer
Are you 18 or over?: Yes
Other characters played: None

CHARACTER

Name: Ienzo
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Age: 19
History: His life before he lost his heart, and after he regained it
The life of his Nobody, Zexion

Point in canon: After Lea gets his keyblade and returns to Radiant Garden

Window Location: Way down in the Dungeon of Radiant Garden, a seldom-used, difficult to navigate area. The area is currently flooded with shin-deep water. Thanks to the TRON security system, Heartless are no longer a problem here. It is possible that a character might get stuck in this area if they can't figure out the sluice-switch-gate system.

Universe: The Game
I... am going to assume that since there have already been at least three Kingdom Hearts characters in this game at various times, that the mods are at least semi-familiar with this universe. Lea and Ienzo will be creating a link to a new "instance," but their version is identical to canon up until the current point in time. The point of divergence is that after Lea gets his keyblade and returns to Radiant Garden after the events of Dream Drop Distance finish; there, Lea enters into the portal.

Some notes, however, on how I think the mechanics of the Kingdom Hearts universe will interact with the larger universe, since I think it's important:

* Hearts in the Kingdom Hearts universe occupy a roughly similar position to Daemons in His Dark Materials. Nobodies, thus, would not have Daemons, as they've explicitly lost their hearts. Heartless wouldn't either, but Heartless aren't exactly sentient. Heartless would read to citizens of the larger universe as a cross between severed and corrupted daemons and Spectres.

* Heartless, if encountered, will attack the Daemon first, much like a Spectre would.

* In the Kingdom Hearts universe and ONLY the Kingdom Hearts universe, it is possible to survive having your daemon destroyed by a Heartless, since it is your heart. If a Heartless devours your daemon, your daemon becomes a heartless itself, and you become a Nobody if your will is strong enough to keep you alive. If both your Heartless and Nobody are destroyed, your original self re-appears along with your daemon.

* This process, much like venturing into the land of the Dead in canon or into dead areas of the world allows one's daemon to wander much further than normal. It is, however, extremely traumatic and time-consuming, moreso than even walking into a dead zone.

* By this logic, Kingdom Hearts itself is a ridiculous motherlode of Dust, since it's where all Hearts come from and the place to which all Hearts return.

* If a person's heart becomes corrupted by Darkness using the usual Kingdom Hearts logic, their daemon will show the effects, becoming darker in colour and more sinister/unnatural in appearance. They will begin to resemble a Heartless. If an individual manages to accumulate enough Darkness, their daemon will become a Heartless, turning them into a Nobody.

* Obviously, this process IS different than true severance! Since it takes killing both Heartless and Nobody to restore a person, one presumes some small, tenuous connection remains, hence why this actually works, why the distance limit gets removed, and why Nobodies retain actual motivation and personality.

* Don't even ask me how the hell this works with Sora, because by the above logic the kid has like three other people's daemons following him around by now :| That'll be up to Sora's player to figure out if we get a Sora. GODSPEED, HYPOTHETICAL SORA PLAYER

Abilities: OH JAYSUS. Because Kingdom Hearts is ridiculous, I've linked Ienzo's full ability list and some TL;DR explanations on this separate page here
To sum up: Ienzo is an exceptionally powerful spellcaster, probably one of the most powerful mages in the Kingdom Hearts universe, and certainly one of the most powerful spellcasters of those who were in Organization XIII. His main shtick is illusions, status effects, and Blue Magic (a la Final Fantasy, ie, Enemy Skill use) though he has a smattering of knowledge about other spells.

Possessions: The Book of Retribution: This was Zexion's signature weapon; like all Nobody weapons, it is tied in some fashion to his soul, and stayed with him after he got his heart back. Ienzo can summon and dismiss his book at will from a nondimensional subspace somewhere. The book itself can also hold a small subspace pocket, and Ienzo often uses it as his inventory, storing things in each page. The book has an infinite number of pages, and when pages are torn out they regenerate. Ienzo always opens the book to the page he's looking for, even if he doesn't know what he's looking for. Written in it is the sort of thing you'd expect to find in the Reports section of a Kingdom Hearts game: Ienzo's history, observations he's made about the world, lists of things he's collected, records of experiments he's done... and a few sections of short stories, poetry, and personal essays. If taken from him, Ienzo can just summon it back to his hands.

Ienzo fights primarily by bashing people with the book, though as he gains abilities he'll be able to control it with minor telekinesis (it'll have a maximum range of no more than five feet though).

Eventually, Ienzo will be able to trap people inside his book, but for now the space inside is too small.

Some Potions and Ethers: POTIONS AND ETHERS

Gear System: A touch-screen like magitechnology device that was standard issue in the Organization. Allows for the organization and focusing of spells and special attacks. Though many of Ienzo's abilities are inherent (his ties to illusion, his spellcasting, the Book), the Gear System lets him organize and power up those abilities (focusing them, basically). Unlike the Book, the Gear System CAN be stolen. Without it, Ienzo can only cast the most minor of spells. As such, Ienzo usually keeps it INSIDE the book. Someone with spellcasting ability who stole Ienzo's Gear System could probably use the spells inside, but only after significant study. The Gear System also only allows seven commands to be in one's active "deck" at once; the rest would be unavailable until they are switched in, and commands cannot be switched in the heat of battle. Conceptually, the Gear System used by Lea and Ienzo is a combination of the Gear System used in KH: 365/2 Days and the Command systems found in Birth By Sleep and Dream Drop Distance.

Or, a simpler version: a Gear System is a bit like a wand in Harry Potter. Wizards are inherently magical without their wands, and can even work some minor magic, but the magic is unpredictable and often very basic. The wand is a focusing device. Same deal with a Gear System.

Personality: First, the stuff we absolutely know to be true from canon: Ienzo is an extremely intelligent individual with a passionate thirst for knowledge of all types, as well as a love of words. He prefers to observe before he acts, gathering as much information as he can before making any major decisions.
Though when Ienzo was very young, he tended to observe without speaking, since he's regained his heart he's become much more talkative. Ienzo is quite knowledgeable, and eager to show it, as evidenced by the somewhat large infodump he gives Lea in Dream Drop Distance. In contrast to his nobody, Zexion, Ienzo is genuinely helpful and seems more openly honest and less prone to sarcasm or scheming (though doubtless his sense of humor and snark are intact).

In addition, Ienzo is a patient individual, willing to carefully instruct others, and to make sure they understand the whole of an issue. That being said, he cannot tolerate laziness.

It remains to be seen how Ienzo feels about the actions of his nobody, Zexion, though given that Lea remembers his time as Axel it's a given that Ienzo likely remembers his time as Zexion.

Now, stuff we can extrapolate:

Ienzo lost his heart at the age of only about eight years old. In a sense, he grew up as Zexion, convinced utterly that he had no emotions and no heart. While he's recovering from this time and he is absolutely Ienzo now, he still has some difficulty with reading other people's emotion and even recognizing his own feelings. At times, he can seem rather naive and childlike when it comes to matters of personal interaction and matters of the heart, because he didn't experience those during his teenage years. This isn't to say he's childish: even at eight years old, Ienzo was fairly mature and even reserved. It's more that he's inexperienced in certain matters. Literally half of his existence was stolen from him.

I wager that while he seldom shows it and prefers not to speak of it, Ienzo is deeply troubled by his actions as a child and as Zexion. He is partially responsible for the destruction of his entire homeworld and the torture and deaths of hundreds of people (including Lea and Isa). It was he who convinced Ansem the Wise, his adopted father, to build the secret lab under Hollow Bastion, and though only a child he participated in the experiments with the rest. He psychologically tortured Riku and sets Heartless on countless worlds while part of Organization XIII.

Though Ienzo thinks of the actions of Zexion as having been done, in a sense, by another person whose memories he happens to share, the actions of Ienzo the child are all on his conscience. He seldom shows it, but this deeply troubles him.

Thread Sample: Here

Prose Sample: He wakes to sleeping, and takes his waking slow. There's stiffness, and pain, and he breathes just to feel the air fill his lungs. The floor is cold and metal, and... familiar.

Home?

He breathes, slowly. He feels the cold metal against his cheek, the smell of dust and the faint chemical odor of the lab, the slightest note of ozone on the air. And -- people. He can see Aeleus across from him.

What do I remember?

Twin memories. They seem equidistant, somehow both the last thing he remembers. He is young, barely reaching nine years old, and there is pain, and betrayal, and suffering. He is older, eighteen, and he has been so empty for so long that he has forgotten what fear is like, and to feel it again, flickering through him like an electric current, that's another kind of pain.

But more. What is this? He feels it against the floor of the room, he feels it in the subtle rhythm and he feels it warm and safe. He hears a familiar voice across the room --

"We're people again."

He pushes himself to his feet, but Aeleus is already there, helping him up.

"Lea --" he says, but the red-haired man is already leaving, running out of the door. No one else speaks.

He looks at Aeleus. What's there to say? Apologies? There's so many things to apologize for. Wrongs committed, failures made, mistakes, where to even begin? He opens his mouth to speak, but Aeleus interrupts him.

"They're not waking up," he says, nodding towards Dilan and Even. "We should get them to the infirmary."

Ienzo shuts his mouth and nods. "Right," he says. "You'll need to carry them, I'm afraid. I'll go find the medical supplies."

"They should be right where we left them," Aeleus says.

Ienzo smirks, just a little. "Well, yes, unless our intrepid Keyblade Master raided the cabinet," he says. "Not that I begrudge our hero their use, but it will make everything a bit inconvenient..."

He walks to the medical supply, and, sure enough, it's been opened, everything taken out. He flicks his fingers to see if he can at least cast something. The magic's still there, all right (and even his Gear System is still stored safely away), but he can tell that the shock of waking up again has scrambled everything inside him. Great. He turns to walk back down the stairs, trying to remember how to even get to the infirmary. The way the castle's been damaged by its fall to Darkness has the corridors all turned around.

"Aeleus?" he asks, poking his head in once he's finally found the place. "I was right; Sora--or Riku, or someone--took all our Potions and Panaceas. Do we have any munny? I have a little, but we should probably stock up..."

Aeleus wordlessly hands him a bag of munny, and turns back to the work of monitoring Dilan and Even. Ienzo takes it with a small word of thanks, then turns to go, pausing at the door.

It's overwhelming, just a little. His emotions hit now like breaking waves: sadness, guilt, fear, joy, passion, ambition, a whirling tumult. He keeps it locked down, not showing a thing on his face, but the guilt, especially... that guilt. He grips the bag in his hand, trying to focus on the task at hand.

Get medical supplies. Maybe buy some basic food. A loaf of bread. Don't think too hard on the past. Look to the future.

Look to the future. That was the key. What was done was done...

Plans: Ienzo will be EXTREMELY interested in daemons, Dust, and research in general. In his own homeworld, he studied the way the heart works extensively, and he'd be interested in expanding his knowledge on the subject, as well as figuring out how the mechanics of his own universe interact with the larger world.
Notes:

DÆMON

Character Information

Character Name: Ienzo
Character Series: Kingdom Hearts
Character Age: 18-20 ish
Character Gender: Male
Original Canon
Canon Point: After he wakes up with his heart restored in Dream Drop Distance
Background Link: http://kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/Ienzo
Personality: Ienzo is an extremely intelligent individual with a passionate thirst for knowledge of all types, as well as a love of words.
Abilities: Again, basing off what we've seen of other Somebodies in Kingdom Hearts, it can be assumed that just as Lea kept many of Axel's abilities, Ienzo kept many of Zexion's, including his weapon.
Primarily, Ienzo is a spellcaster with power over Illusion. In-game, he has abilities very similar to that of a Final Fantasy style Blue Mage or Mime, with the ability to mimic his opponent's attacks. He also has a standard arsenal of spells.

Lexicon: Ienzo's primary weapon, Book of Retribution is a huge, heavy tome. Hypothetically if he were to get the right components he could change the book's shape and attributes, but I doubt he'll find the right materials in Animus.
Ienzo controls the book telekinetically, though it's still a melee weapon and doesn't have much range. He attacks mostly by whacking people with it, though he can shoot the pages as projectiles and make small constructs.

Standard Magic: Ienzo knows a LOT of magic. I'll be giving him mostly low-tier spells, but he still knows... well, a lot.

* Blackout -- Blinds target
* Confuse -- Confuses target
* Bind -- Roots target to the spot
* Poison -- Poisons the target
* Slow -- Target moves and acts at half speed
* Sleep -- Target falls asleep, if able
* Magnet -- Objects and targets in area are dragged towards a single spot for 10 seconds (excludes caster)
* Zero Gravity -- Gravity ceases functioning in a 15 ft radius for 10 seconds (excludes caster)
* Fire
* Blizzard
* Thunder
* Aero (Defensive)
* Cure

Sample Entry: Along with personality, the most important section of the application. We would prefer if samples were not introductions, as they do not often show off a character's personality well (although if you can make an introduction do so you're free to use it). We accept links to museboxes, dear_mun, or testrun_box as well. Prose or action allowed, length encouraged.
